Please reach us at dorsetcop@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are restricted by the premises, a historic building in the centre of Dorchester, however, Dorset Arts have invested heavily in the premises over recent years and there is both a disabled access and lift to the first floor.
If you have any other specific requirements please email dorsetcop@gmail.com quoting ACCESSIBILITY in the email title.
We hope to be able to live stream the main talks for those unable to attend. If you would like to access this please email dorsetcop@gmail.com quoting LIVE STREAM in the email title.
People are welcome to attend both as individuals and as group representatives. However, one of the main aims of the event is to connect groups across the county.
We hope, by sending a representative and, if appropriate for them, by signing the declaration, we can demonstrate how many groups are committed to taking action as well as individuals.
Everyone attending will need to book their own ticket via Eventbrite (see Tickets).
If attending on behalf of a group there is an option to record this as part of the booking process. Individuals can skip this step.
We have events planned in every room available to us and do not have any space for exhibition stands. There are limited opportunities for stand-alone banners etc. and tables for displaying leaflets.
If you intend to use either option, this must be pre-booked by emailing dorsetcop@gmail.com and you will be advised of the location allocated to you.
Banners etc. brought on the day, not displayed in a pre-arranged location may be removed due to access / fire and safety requirements.
We hope the Declaration would be something everyone, whether a group representative or individual, can sign up to. However, this was/is not a requirement.
Now the event has passed, there is the opportunity to sign the Declaration on this website (for attendees and non-attendees).
While we hope to secure widespread support for the Declaration, to turn this into action we are asking groups and individuals to consider 'pledges' they can make to bring this to life.
For further details and to view the pledges, visit the Declaration page on this website.
If you were unable to attend you can now submit your Declarations and Pledges to be shared on our website. Please visit the Declarations page of this site to find out more.
While we managed to arrange separate streams of activity covering many aspects of the climate and ecological crises and while we recognised there are many interwoven issues of justice and equity, we were not able to cover every aspect and have prioritised sessions based on available speakers and other practical arrangements.
We also had to decline some offers for talks and workshops simply because space and time were not available. We hope to be able to include other aspects at future events.
We recognise Dorset businesses have a critical role to play in addressing these crises and there were several speakers from local businesses at the event.
While we were keen that this first event should be broad in nature and focused on community groups and private individuals, many of the sessions have business speakers and subjects of interest to businesses.
Throughout the day the COP Café was set out as a networking space where attendees could meet others, talk to some of the presenters after their talks or even arrange to meet people.
We also ran a Visioning Session and People's Assembly (as well as several workshops) where everyone had an opportunity to contribute.
Attendees were able to bring their own lunch and drinks and were welcome to consume these in the COP Cafe area.
At this stage the most appropriate method of registering supporting for the COP (if you were unable to attend) will be by signing the Declaration (please see The Declaration page).
