Saturday 1 November | The Exchange, Sturminster Newton
Join us for a full day of community-led climate action, creativity, and collaboration — where Dorset’s changemakers come together to reimagine the future of our county. From food resilience and river restoration to retrofit, repair, and nature recovery, the Dorset COP brings practical workshops, inspiring speakers, and hands-on activities under one roof.
Morning
We’ll open with a warm welcome from community organisers, climate activists, and local leaders before diving into the day’s first sessions — exploring food, waste, ownership, and public transport. Learn how Dorset’s communities are creating a vibrant and resilient food culture, pioneering circular economy models, reimagining local transport, and taking ownership of the places they love.
Late Morning
Sessions then deepen into Dorset’s energy revolution and nature recovery, with workshops led by community energy pioneers, retrofit experts, and the Sustainable Shaftesbury team, who are charting the path toward the UK’s first Nature Friendly Town.
Afternoon
After lunch, we’ll turn to rivers, clothing, and growing — exploring how local action is protecting Dorset’s waterways, reshaping our relationship with fashion, and nurturing a thriving culture of community food growing. Parallel sessions look at how councils and communities can co-design effective local climate plans through The Great Collaboration.
Throughout the Day
Drop into the Café for Futureneers Wanted! LEGO Serious Play with The What If Department, imagining Dorset in 2040 through play and creativity. Visit Sense the System, an interactive live map where you can pin your project and see Dorset’s community action come to life. Plus, explore climate-themed costumes created by Arts University Bournemouth students.
Closing Session
We’ll end the day together with reflections, stories, and a call to action — featuring climate and health justice activist Emma de Saram and others — celebrating the power of community and collaboration to shape a fair, regenerative future for Dorset.
